History of Education System in Malaysia

Malaysia consists of Malayan Peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak so the history of the country varied by regions before 1948 and 1957. As for Malayan Peninsula, traditional pondok as what was known for religious madrasas were the earliest forms of schooling system available. Early Malay literature such as Hikayat Abdullah Munshi mention these schools indicating the pre-date of current secular model of education in Malay nation-states.
